Four pyrylium salts, (2,6-diphenyl-4-arylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate, aryl=C₆H₅, 4-MeO C₆H₄, 4-Me₂NC₆H₄, 4-NO₂C₆H₄) were synthesized efficiently and economically from acctophenone and substituted chalcones in the presence of borontrifluoride.
