Three Heptad Repeats Are Long Enough to Form Highly Stable α-Helix Structure

摘要: As an attempt to find out how the sequence length determine the α-helix formation, seven peptides containing 2 to 4 heptad repeats (16-29 residues long) were designed and characterized. Results of circular dichroism (CD) show that two-heptad repeats are not long enough to form highly helical structure, while more than three are adequate, in aqueous solution.
